Helldivers 2 Cross-Progression: Platform Switch Guide

Helldivers 2 supports crossplay, not cross-progression. See what a platform switch means before buying another copy or rebuilding your loadout.

Will your Helldivers 2 progress move with you?

No. Arrowhead currently supports crossplay between PC, PlayStation and Xbox, but not cross-buy or cross-progression. Linking Steam and PSN does not copy your game data. A different platform or account means you cannot bring over your existing progression, DLC or limited-time items through an account transfer.

If the only reason you are considering another copy is to join friends elsewhere, separate that wish from the desire to change hardware. Those are two different decisions.

Three questions that sound similar but are not

Can we play together?

Crossplay

This is about the squad you can join. It does not promise that the squad shares an inventory or account.

Can I keep my existing progress elsewhere?

Cross-progression

This is about continuity between copies. Do not infer it from the ability to meet players on another system.

Does my purchase include another platform?

Cross-buy

This is about ownership. A shared login alone does not establish a second game licence.

A better checklist before a second purchase

  • Write down why you want to switchJoining friends, moving to the living room and replacing an unreliable computer are different motivations. Decide which one the purchase must solve.
  • List what would be hard to leave behindThink about your preferred equipment, familiar loadout and sentimental cosmetics. Their importance is personal; a cheap second copy does not make that attachment disappear.
  • Budget for a separate startJudge the purchase as another beginning, not a migration fee. If relearning the early equipment would frustrate you, include that in the decision.
  • Keep access to the original accountDo not remove your working account while experimenting with another device. First decide where you want your future play to happen.

Can support move your items instead?

Arrowhead says support cannot merge accounts or transfer progression, Warbonds or other items between them. It also says it has no current plans for cross-progression. Treat a future transfer feature as unconfirmed, not a reason to accept a restart you otherwise would not want.

For a missing purchase on the account that actually bought it, keep the original receipt and contact official support about that specific issue. That is a different request from asking to move an inventory to another account.

Which choice makes sense for you?

You only want to join friends

Check crossplay first

Solve the group connection question before spending money on hardware or another copy.

You strongly prefer the new device

Weigh the restart honestly

Comfort can be worth more than accumulated unlocks, but only you can decide that tradeoff.

Your existing collection is the main attraction

Keep your established platform

A second installation will not substitute for the history you want to continue.

You would enjoy starting again

Treat it as a separate playthrough

Do not rely on the two accounts being combined later.

Our recommendation

Keep the account you value as your main home unless the new hardware offers a benefit worth starting again for. The cleanest purchase decision names that benefit directly. 'My friends use it' is a prompt to check crossplay; 'I want to play from my sofa' is a genuine hardware preference.
