Hogwarts Legacy supports importing Nintendo Switch save data into its Nintendo Switch 2 version. These are two separate stages: the old-version save must first be on the new console, then the Switch 2 game must import it.
Portkey Games also warns that progress from the Switch 2 version cannot be transferred back into the Switch version. Do not treat this as a two-way cross-save system that keeps both editions current.

First establish whether the Switch-version save reached the correct user on the new hardware. Then confirm that you launched the Switch 2 version of the game. A game installation, a user account and a save file are related, but the presence of one does not prove that all three match.
If the only available cloud save is older than the progress you expect, stop before downloading over a newer local file. Compare timestamps and the character information you recorded. Repeating transfers without identifying which copy is current can make the situation harder to understand.
If those checks do not explain the problem, use Portkey's support route with the relevant edition, console and error details. Do not send account passwords or sign-in codes.

Once the imported character is verified, treat the Switch 2 version as the place you intend to continue. Do not expect later progress there to appear in the original Switch edition.
Save compatibility is also separate from game ownership. The ability to import a character is not a promise of a free software upgrade. Check the edition you can access before moving data, and preserve a clear record of which copy contains your latest progress.
